Applications :
DTBHQ is an effective inhibitor, antioxidant and stabilizer. It is used mostly in industrial applications, particularly in rubbers, adhesive and adhesive films, paints and monomers.
Polymerisation Inhibitor :
It is used for protection of monomers during distillations and in the prevention of cross-linking during the preparation of unsaturated polyesters. Addition of DTBHQ to unsaturated polyesters provides stability while processing and storage.
Rubber Industries :
DTBHQ is used in Rubber Industries as a stopping agent, antioxidant and as colour stabilizer. It is also used as a stabilizer in the copolymerisation of styrene with butadiene.
DTBHQ is used in rubber composition as antioxidant to inhibit formation of a pink discolouration in vulcanized rubber articles.
Stabiliser :
DTBHQ is added to various compositions as a stabilizer. Polyacrylonitrile and pressure-sensitive adhesives use DTBHQ as a stabilizer. Solutions of gasoline antioxidants in hydro-carbon solvents, solutions of pyridine dicarboxylic acid esters also use DTBHQ as stabilizer.
DTBHQ also inhibits attack by oxygen on the unsaturated paint resins and drying oils which are prone to skinning. The usage level specified in paints is in the range of 100 to 500 ppm.
Packaging :
RCPL-DTBHQ is packed in 25 Kgs Net Fibre board drums or in 500 Kgs Jumbo bags with liner.
Shelf Life and Storage Conditions:
One year if stored in a cool, dark place in an air tight sealed container.
